Each year, we pump-test all of our engines to meet PIAL requirements and ensure they are ready for service at full capacity. On Friday, several firemen gave up part of their day off to test two of our engines. Thank you all for your dedication.

t’s not often, but from time to time we get lucky enough to have one of our own walk across that stage.
Pierre Part Fire & Rescue would like to congratulate our very own Joshua Templet — better known around the firehouse as “Marv” — on his graduation!
Joshua plans to attend LSUE and major in Fire Sciences as he continues pursuing his passion for the fire service. We’re proud to see young firefighters investing in their future and the future of this profession.
We wish you nothing but success, Joshua, and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.
Congratulations from all of us at PPVFD!!!!! 🚒

Today, firefighters from Paincourtville and Pierre Part trained together at our training facility, practicing search and rescue, fire suppression, and mayday procedures. They wrapped up with live-fire evolutions. Even with the poor weather, the team stayed committed and had a productive day of training. When asked about canceling, they noted that calls still come in when it rains, so they must be ready to respond. It was a strong joint effort by both departments.

Last night, our firefighters trained in self-survival—skills that can make the difference between life and death on the fireground.

Inside a burning structure, visibility is often near zero. Firefighters must rely on training, muscle memory, and a deep understanding of their equipment to operate effectively under extreme conditions.

This two-part firefighter survival course is designed to push members beyond their comfort zone. It focuses on recognizing personal limits, controlling breathing, staying calm under stress, and transmitting a clear call for help when trapped or entangled.

Tasks are performed while gloved and blindfolded to replicate real-world conditions—because on the fireground, there are no second chances to figure it out.

These are not just drills—they are critical, life-saving skills. Next week, these lessons will be applied during a live fire scenario.

Stay tuned.
