📚☀️ Summer reading season is here! Join Rawlins Library for their Summer Reading Kickoff Program and help celebrate a summer full of books, learning, and fun!

We’re also excited that the Pierre-Fort Pierre Lions Club Vision Screening Program — one of’s Community Impact Programs — will be there providing free vision screenings for children. 👓💙

It’s a great opportunity to kick off summer reading, connect with community resources, and make sure young readers are ready to see every page clearly!

Watch for event details and we hope to see you there!

👓💙 The Pierre/Fort Pierre Lions Club Vision Screening Program is helping local children see a brighter future — and is proud to support this important work as one of our Community Impact Programs.

Through the dedication of incredible Lion volunteers, children across our communities receive free vision screenings that can identify concerns early and help connect families to needed care.

Be sure to follow along for updates on upcoming screening events, locations, and opportunities to get involved!

Thank you to the Pierre-Fort Pierre Lions Club volunteers for making a difference, one child at a time. 👏

📚✨ A love of reading starts early — and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library helps make that possible!

Through, children enrolled in the program receive a FREE book mailed directly to their home every month, helping build confidence, imagination, and a lifelong love of reading. ❤️

This May alone, CAUW is mailing out 694 books to local children across our communities! 📖

If you have a child under age 5, sign up today! And if you believe every child deserves the joy of books, consider supporting this incredible program through Capital Area United Way.

Together, we’re helping create brighter futures — one book at a time.

I had a productive and inspiring time at the United Way Worldwide Capitol Hill Forum this week.

During my conversations with South Dakota U.S. Senator Mike Rounds & his staff Dez & Will, Senator John Thune’s staffer Sarah, and House Representative Dusty Johnson & staffer Mason, I focused on three key priorities: strengthening support for local communities, expanding access to essential services, and advancing policies that create long-term economic stability for families. These discussions reinforced how important collaboration is in driving meaningful, lasting impact.

It was also a great opportunity to connect with leaders from across the country who are equally committed to building stronger, more resilient communities. I’m grateful for the conversations, insights, and shared sense of purpose—and I’m looking forward to continuing this important work.

A sincere thank you to United Way Worldwide for providing a stipend that made it possible for me to attend and be part of this important forum.
