Thanks to a $1,500 donation from the Pierre-Fort Pierre Kiwanis Club, screenings of the South Dakota Discovery Center's summer Moon Movie Monday program are free to the public! Screenings are held every other Monday, beginning June 8. Meet our newest program at the South Dakota Discovery Center: Share the Air! Every Friday, we bring you a local air quality update straight from our very own Ozone Garden, where we use plants to track ground-level pollution in real time.

Join our Summer STEM Educator Intern, Kendra Rounds, as she walks you through this week's Share the Air report what's in our air, what it means for your health, and whether it's a great day to get outside or take it easy.

New life is buzzing at the Center! Our bees are making brood and you can watch the magic happen up close with our SpyHive Observation Hive by Beequip NZ For Innovative Bee Products. From egg to worker bee, witness the full life cycle of a honey bee colony right before your eyes. Come see what all the buzz is about!

We're Bee-yond excited about our grand opening of our new observation hive this Wednesday for World Bee Day, and admission is completely FREE!

Come and join us watch the unveiling, meet our friendly bees, and join in on the fun by exploring the rest of the bug-related exhibitions and getting hands-on with activities led by STEM Educators!

We are so grateful to BankWest - South Dakota and Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines for their grant to the Discovery Center!

These funds will help us make our Outdoor Living Lab in Pierre, A Space that engages Youth and families in learning and exploring nature, make sure to stay tuned to learn more about it!

This kind of support is what helps us build a space where kids can ask big questions and fall in love with learning. We couldn't do it without partners like Bankwest!

Today is Wake Up the Beds! Help the South Dakota Discovery Center prep its garden beds for the growing season!

What to wear/bring: dress in work clothes that can get dirty! We also suggest wearing heavy-soled shoes and your own gardening gloves.

Special notes:
The length of the project depends on the number of participants,
so this event could end before 1pm.

Volunteers under the age of 12 must have an adult helper that comes with them.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed. Staff will communicate rescheduling information via email to event registrants.

Starting Today we will be open Monday - Saturday, 10 AM - 5 PM, and Sunday 1 PM - 5 PM until August 31st.
