South Dakota Cattlemen's Association

South Dakota Cattlemen's Association Formed in 1948, SDCA was established to ensure the voices of South Dakota’s cattle producers are heard.

Built by cattlemen, for cattlemen, SDCA is a grassroots, membership organization representing all segments of the cattle industry across the state. SDCA Is Defending Beef:
Locally:
SDCA is a grassroots organization consisting of 15 county or regional affiliates and 3 councils providing the greatest opportunity for producer input and policy recommendations. Statewide:
SDCA affiliates and councils a

ppoint representatives to the SDCA Board of Directors and policy committees. These volunteer leaders are your voice at the state level, setting SDCA’s goals and shaping our policy. These policies are then carried by SDCA members to the legislature, state agencies, consumer groups, and media, providing a statewide voice for today’s beef producers. Nationally:
As an affiliate of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), SDCA provides a voice for South Dakota cattlemen on national issues affecting your business. Our involvement with NCBA ensures you have a seat at the decision-making table. The NCBA Washington office is considered one of the most effective ag lobbying groups on the Hill while the Denver office conducts research, communication, membership services and beef promotion activities

"Anybody can love the mountains, but it takes a soul to love the prairie." -Willa Cather

On National Prairie Day, we reflect on one of the incredible natural resources of our great state. With grasslands accounting for about 50% of South Dakota's landscape, caring for native range and pasture is a top priority for cattlemen and women.

Tune in to hear how SDCA Vice President of Membership, Dawn Butzer, has taken big steps to conserve the grasslands in this episode of NCBA's Cattlemen to Cattlemen.

Restoring grasslands takes time, effort, and expertise—but cattle p...

USDA has been preparing for almost two years for New World Screwworm because it was not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’ it would make it to the United States.

While it has officially been reported in Texas, it’s important to remember that this parasite has been eradicated from the US once before.

In today’s special edition of the Cattlemen’s Call, South Dakota State Veterinarian, Dr. Mendel Miller says we can be confident that this is not a food safety concern because of the nature of the fly and the rigorous meat inspection protocols that are in place.
