Three Black Hills State University student organizations were recognized for their outstanding academic, community, and organizational achievements during the South Dakota Board of Regents meeting held on the BHSU campus in July.

Today, the South Dakota Board of Regents took a moment to honor the late T. Denny Sanford.

Regent Miles Beacom spoke on behalf of the board, thanking the Board of Regents for recognizing Mr. Sanford and the revolutionary impact he had on South Dakota higher education this spring. Mr. Sanford had two main passions in his life, one of which was public education. He exemplified this through numerous efforts, notably the Freedom Scholarship, which will leave a long-lasting influence on this state.
