Just a reminder the polls will be open for the special election Tues Sept 8 from 7AM -8 PM Eligible voters residing in Precinct 34 (Moville), Precinct 35 (Pierson), and Precinct 36 (Correctionville) must vote at Pierson City Hall, 201 Main Street, Pierson. Only residents of the Kingsley-Pierson Community School District are eligible to vote in this election.

It's the time of year when bats tend to get into houses and have more contact with people. Here's a few tips:

• Try to avoid smashing the bat - rabies testing requires the brain to be intact
• Catch the bat if possible - rabies treatment is not necessary if the bat tests negative
• Put the bat in a clear container - makes it easier to test the bat
• You have time! - rabies treatment can almost always wait until the bat is tested
• When to test a bat - if there is a bite or scratch or the bat was in the room with a sleeping person or someone that can't say for sure (like a small child)

Otto is a college student from Europe and is doing an internship to help with education. Today he stopped in City Hall to get a permit to sell some educational books and materials in Kingsley.

🚨 **Safety Reminder: Golf Carts & Electric Scooters** 🚨

We've recently seen an increase in **underage children operating golf carts and electric scooters in the downtown area**. While these vehicles can be a convenient and fun way to get around, they also present serious safety concerns when operated by children who are not old enough or legally permitted to do so.

Downtown streets are shared by vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, and visitors. Young or inexperienced operators can create dangerous situations that may result in accidents or injuries.

We ask all parents and guardians to please:
• Do not allow underage or unlicensed children to operate golf carts or electric scooters on public streets.
• Review safe operating practices and any applicable local and state laws with anyone using these vehicles.
• Be mindful of pedestrians and follow all traffic rules.

Our goal is not to discourage responsible use, but to ensure that everyone can enjoy a safe environment. We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep our community safe.
