📚 Meet the Principal: Bruce Kalb ❤️⚡

Please join us in welcoming Bruce Kalb, the new Principal of Piketon High School!

Outside of school, Mr. Kalb enjoys spending time with his wife, Rebecca, and their five children. Whether they're cheering on the Bengals, Reds, or Buckeyes, riding roller coasters at Kings Island or Cedar Point, or simply enjoying time together, family is at the center of everything he does. When he finds a little time for himself, he enjoys golfing (though he says his scorecard keeps him humble!), reading a good book, or watching Law & Order.

💬 "I am honored to serve as the new principal of Piketon High School. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving as a teacher, coach, and administrator. I believe that the strongest schools are built on positive relationships, high expectations, and a culture where every student can thrive. My family and I are excited to become part of the Redstreak community and I look forward to getting to know our students, staff, and families throughout the school year"

Welcome to the Redstreak family, Mr. Kalb! We look forward to an outstanding school year together. ⚡

They walk in as 8th & 9th graders, and walk out as Salient Dedicated Artists 4 or 5 years later. This group of brilliant young artists will undoubtedly excel in their future careers. It’s my hope they keep art as one of the greatest supplements throughout their lives. They’ll be greatly missed in the art room.

Congratulations to the following Salient Dedication Award Recipients 2025-2026

Cole Beattie (V)

The art show may be over, but projects have been wrapping up outside the classroom! Classroom murals are often taken on by Art II-V levels, not because Art I isn’t permitted, they just often are stalled by their harsh inner critic(s) (themselves), often convincing themselves “they can’t”. Well, not these three! 2 Art 1 students, Kasey W, Arianna W., and their friend Keira W., who was not in Art this year, but will now be DEMANDED (“encouraged and invited” 😆😉) to join next year, completed an entire 2-wall corner mural for Señora Cayton in her classroom! They worked many weeks to bring this beauty to completion! Congratulations on an outstanding mural!

Art 1 was introduced to the Zentangle unit, given the criteria, and selected some incredibly complex abstract designs. They’ve been pushed heavily on the fundamentals of drawing with a majority emphasis on structuring their projects with accurate observation throughout the school year. Zentangle set that structured techniques aside which allows students to create the details with abstract designs rather than traditional techniques. Enjoy! More will be added to this post as students finish.
