UPIKE Frank M. Allara Library Frank M. Allara Library The Frank M. Allara Library exists to support the educational goals and objectives of the University of Pikeville.

As a support service, the library is concerned with the growth of the University as a Christian community. To this end it provides materials for personal, spiritual enrichment and collects sources of information which reflect the heritage and continuing affiliation of the institution with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The library also supports the University's course offerings through the acquisi

tion of a variety of print and non-print resources. While the library serves all segments of the University of Pikeville's community, its primary responsibility is to the graduate and undergraduate students of the Unversity. The library shares the institution’s commitment to its students and seeks to foster their intellectual and cultural development by means of its resources and services.

Did you know...?

When she wasn't being an Appalachian musical and performing icon, Dolly Parton stood as a champion for libraries and children's literacy. Her Dollywood Foundation was created to encourage children's education, and launched the Imagination Library, which expanded from Tennessee to throughout the United States and has donated hundreds and millions of books to children. Today we honor her legacy and celebrate her life.

Did you know…?

In 1887, William Condit, James Hendricks, and Samuel Alderson came to Pikeville with a dream—a place of education in an area that, at the time, had no high schools and only a few grade schools. The first students helped with building this dream. And we mean LITERALLY building it, including making the bricks! Almost a hundred and forty years later, this dream has evolved into the University of Pikeville, and you are our proud new class of students! Welcome, Bears!
