Mayor Jimmy Carter and the Pikeville City Commission along with City of Pikeville Tourism, recognized UPIKE Coach Chris Elliott for his exceptional community leadership at the City commission meeting held on September 28th. By bringing his student-athletes out to volunteer on various city projects, Coach Elliott continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to service and civic pride in Pikeville. Thank you, Coach Elliott, for leading by example!

This week we had the pleasure of helping host members of National Corvette Museum in Pikeville! They will be in town touring for the next 4 weeks. They visited Brothers Wright Distillery, The Big Sandy Heritage Museum and did a little shopping. We are looking forward to the next visit.

Our hearts are heavy as we join the world in mourning the loss of the incomparable Dolly Parton. Her warmth, boundless generosity, and unmatched talent touched lives across East Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky, and far beyond.

Here in downtown Pikeville, we are inviting our community to gather, reflect, and pay their respects. Located on Division Street in front of the Judicial Center, our iconic teal butterfly chairs offer a special space for remembrance. Inspired by the butterflies found throughout Dolly’s beloved mountain properties in Tennessee, these sculptures serve as a lasting symbol of hope, transformation, and the creative spirit that lives within each of us.

Whether you stop by to sit for a quiet moment, leave flowers, or reflect on the joy her music and philanthropy brought to Appalachia, all are welcome.
