Hello everyone. We have an announcement from one of our members for a tree planting event this Friday, May 5th at German bridge camp ground.

"Planting is from 9am through 5pm. Meeting at German Bridge Campground. Encouraging people to show up for as long as they can. If they get there after 9am follow signs to the site." ~ Patrick Davis

Also, I've been asking around to see if anyone wants to go to the young democrats convention this summer. I haven't found anyone who can make it there yet, I won't be able to attend either due to a summer job. If you'd like to go, let me know soon so I can put some names on the charter.

The rally taking place in Pikeville is being advertised as a "A rally for White Working Families". We see through their propaganda. All the groups involved are well known Neo-Nazi, white supremacist groups. Their political philosophy is not peaceful, or inclusive. They have no intentions of standing in solidarity with the working class. They have no intention of making our home a better place. Despite how they try to rebrand themselves, N***s, the Alt-right, the K*K, and White Nationalsit are violent racists, plain and simple. Spread the word.

Before the problem of economic inequality in Appalachia, or anywhere else can be solved, we'll have to fundamentally reorder our economic system. Here, Lynn Stout of the Aspen Institute does an excellent job of identifying and deconstructing the dominant economic mythology which is destroying working class communities as we speak. It's time we call oil and gas companies out on their misinformation. There have been thousands of pipeline spills recorded all over the country. To not acknowledge that fact is to very intentionally deceive the American public. And becaus we at the FCYD don't believe in fake news, here's a source.

Hi Everyone. Apologies for not updating the page in a long time, I've been extremely busy with college and all of my sociology research. Since we do have a very important local election coming up, I just wanted to put out a message to any Young Dems in the district. It's vital that we all turn out on election day to support Speaker Stumbo as our strong, Democratic voice in the State Legislature. He's committed to the important work of leading the opposition to Governor Bevin's destructive policies in Frankfort. Our district is crucial in that fight. Anyone who hasn't registered to vote should do so immediately. We need a high election day turnout to secure a democratic victory, and ultimately, a victory for the people of the Commonwealth. I'm thinking of calling our next meeting Monday at about 5:30 in the BSCTC library. Any opinions on that? We're looking for officers and they have to be elected via a simple majority vote cast by all in attendance at the next meeting. I will be stepping down from my current post as VP in order to forward my name for President. That means our Vice Presidential position will be open, along with some other possible positions. Comment or message me if you're interested.
