πŸ“£ May Township neighbors β€” don't miss this! Tomorrow evening at 6 PM, the Cass County Commissioners are bringing their monthly meeting right to our community at the town hall. This is a rare and wonderful opportunity to see your county government in action, meet your commissioners face to face, and have a voice in what happens in our corner of Cass County.
One item on the agenda that directly affects our township: the county is asking May Township to take over maintenance of approximately 10 miles of road currently maintained by the county. This could mean increased costs for our township down the road β€” and this meeting is your chance to hear the details and ask questions.
Come curious, come with questions, and come ready to be part of the conversation. This is exactly the kind of decision where community voices matter. We'd love to see a great turnout! πŸ“…

After the Board's initial review of roads, It was decided to concentrate on many of the roads south of Highway 210 and Mosquito Creek Road. These roads are traveled a bit more heavily than some of the other township roads. The goal is to work them to get them back in shape - meaning a crown on the road and bring the road width back in to the standard. You may notice some of the berm being brought back into the road - and it may look a bit off. Please be patient with us while we work this process. If you have any concerns about your road, please either send a DM here or come to a Township meeting. The next meeting is Monday, May 11. Here is a link to the meeting notes from the annual meeting.

The Cass County "Road Show" refers to the Board of Commissioners' practice of holding their regular meetings at various township halls and community centers throughout the county during the summer months.

Instead of meeting at the standard courthouse in Walker, the commissioners travel to different districts to make the meetings more accessible to residents in rural areas. These meetings often focus on localized issues, such as road revocations, infrastructure grants, and community-specific zoning.

The Board will meet in May Township on May 19 at 6PM (Before our regular meeting), it will be held at the township hall located at 5834 112th St. SW in Pillager. This session is expected to include a public hearing regarding the revocation of County Roads 102 and 104.

What to Expect
These traveling meetings are frequently used for formal public hearings regarding road maintenance and township infrastructure.
Residents often have the opportunity to speak directly with their district commissioners about local concerns before or after the formal agenda. While standard county business is conducted, the agenda usually highlights projects specific to that region of the county.
