Keeping hazmat moving and highways safe 🚚
THATCHER, AZ – On May 27, 2026, Highway Patrol State Troopers with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit conducted a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Hazmat Detail in support of Arrive Alive Arizona. The detail focused on the condition of hazmat transportation vehicles, proper labeling, and ensuring that chemicals and other dangerous materials reach their destinations safely. Nearly every tank inspected had cracks of some degree. The detail produced the following results:
- 9 CMV Inspections
- 44 Total Violations
- 5 Vehicles Placed Out of Service

The Town of Pima is celebrating the completion of renovations to the Pima Pool with a community celebration TODAY, Saturday, May 23, beginning at 12 p.m. (Pool Opens and Ribbon Cutting at 1 pm) The free event will feature food trucks, free popsicles, a cannonball contest and a diving board contest. Contest winners will receive gift cards from Suds Up Laundromat, Barnyard Grill, and Valley Furniture, along with candy bar prizes. A ribbon cutting ceremony hosted in partnership with Freeport-McMoRan, United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties and the Graham County Chamber of Commerce will take place at 1 p.m. Everyone is invited to enjoy the updated pool facility and celebrate the start of summer in Pima.
