We will not have our Pre K group separately, as we are opening up the Ozark Koala Presentation to all ages! Tomorrow's Summer Reading Pre K group will get to hear our new board president, Sarah Brueggemann, read a story about a certain seed! Some of you may remember Sarah from her years as an assistant librarian, starting while she was still attending high school. Others may know her currently as an employee of the First National Bank in Pinckneyville. Sarah has always been very community-oriented and passionate about making a positive impact. She had been a member of the library board for two years before becoming the president of the board. Both the library board and staff are so excited and very confident in her ability to take on the role! Congratulations, Sarah!

We had another fun day of Summer Reading on Friday! Sandy Sweeney, a member of the Pinckneyville Garden Club, was kind enough to stop by and read a book called A Good Place. We painted some rocks and had yummy snacks! For the older group, the Rend Lake Project Office gave us an awesome presentation about pollinators. It was very interactive and educational! Thank you to all of our collaborators who make this program a success.

We sure had a blast last Friday for our Summer Reading kickoff! Mr. Twist from Magical Twists put on an amazing show as always, drawing laughs from the adults and children alike! This coming Friday will be a garden and pollinator-themed Pre K Story Time at 1:00 PM and a pollinator program by the Rend Lake Project Office at 2:00 PM, all at the Pinckneyville Community Center.

Tuesday's board meeting was bittersweet. It was our last meeting with Board President Charlene Butcher, as she is resigning after 14 years of dedication and hard work. We wish Charlene the very best as she starts a new chapter in her life. The library board and staff alike are going to miss her immensely. Thank you for all that you have accomplished for the library over the years, Charlene!
