Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services proudly announces the appointment of Captain Juan Ventress to the rank of Battalion Chief, effective Sept. 11, 2026, marking another milestone in a distinguished career of more than 37 years of service to the citizens of Pine Bluff.

Ventress began his career with the Pine Bluff Fire Department on Aug. 30, 1989.

Throughout his career, he has advanced through the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant and Captain, building a reputation for leadership, professionalism, integrity and an unwavering commitment to public safety.

A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Ventress has carried the principles of discipline, service, teamwork, and leadership throughout his fire service career.

“Battalion Chief Ventress brings decades of experience, institutional knowledge, and proven leadership to this position,” said Fire Chief Randy Compton. “Captain Ventress has spent his career serving this community, developing firefighters, and stepping forward when leadership was needed. His appointment reflects not only what he has accomplished throughout his career, but the confidence we have in his ability to continue leading this department forward.”

The date of his appointment also holds profound meaning for members of the fire service.

On Sept. 11, firefighters and communities throughout the nation remember the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the firefighters and other first responders who answered the call on Sept. 11, 2001.

As Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services observes the 25th anniversary of September 11, the department honors that legacy through its continued commitment to service, courage, leadership,
and duty.

The appointment of a veteran firefighter who has devoted more than 37 years to protecting others is especially fitting on a day dedicated to remembering the very principles upon which the fire service is built.

As Battalion Chief, Ventress will provide leadership and operational oversight to department personnel, coordinate emergency response activities, support the development of firefighters and officers, and assist Fire Administration in ensuring Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services continues to provide professional and effective service to the community.

Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services congratulates Battalion Chief Juan Ventress on this well-earned appointment and thanks him for more than 37 years of dedicated service to the City of Pine Bluff.
