We want to take a moment to say thank you, to everyone who voted in support of Proposition 7.

This project is about much more than a new building. It is about providing our firefighters with a safe, modern facility and ensuring that Laramie County Fire District 5 has the resources and space needed to continue protecting our community for many years to come.

We are incredibly grateful for the confidence you have placed in our department. We know that projects like this represent a significant investment, and we do not take your support for granted.

Now the real work begins. We are excited to move forward and build a fire station that our entire community can be proud of.

🌧️ **HEAVY RAIN & FLOODING — PLEASE USE CAUTION**

We are seeing **heavy rainfall across the Pine Bluffs and southeastern Laramie County area tonight**, with approximately **1.5 to 2 inches of rain already reported in parts of the area** and additional rainfall possible. A **Flash Flood Warning is currently in effect**, including Pine Bluffs and surrounding areas.

Several roadways are experiencing **standing water and flooding**, and conditions can change quickly as additional rain moves through the area.

🚗 **If you encounter water covering a roadway, TURN AROUND — DON’T DROWN.** It can be difficult to judge how deep the water is or whether the roadway underneath has been damaged.

Please:
• Slow down and allow extra stopping distance.
• Avoid flooded streets, low-water crossings and areas with standing water.
• Never drive around barricades or road closures.
• Keep an eye on changing weather conditions and emergency alerts.
• If you don't need to be on the roads tonight, consider staying home until conditions improve.

**Please take this weather seriously and help us keep our community safe.** A few extra minutes of caution is worth it.

⚠️ **Planned Power Outage – Wednesday, August 5** ⚠️

While the outage is expected to be brief, a little preparation can help make the evening go smoothly.

Here are a few simple ways to prepare:

🔦 Charge your cell phones, tablets, flashlights, and any rechargeable battery packs before the outage begins.

🔦 Keep flashlights and extra batteries readily available. We recommend using flashlights or battery-powered lanterns instead of candles to reduce the risk of fire.

🔦 If you rely on electrically powered medical equipment, make sure backup batteries are fully charged or have an alternate plan in place. Such as extra oxygen cylinders.

🔦 Unplug sensitive electronics or use quality surge protectors to help protect them from possible power surges when electricity is restored.

🔦 Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible to help keep food cold.

🔦 If you have an electric garage door opener, know how to operate it manually.

🔦 If you use a generator, **never operate it inside your home, garage, or near doors and windows.** Generators produce carbon monoxide, which can be deadly.

🔦 Leave one light switched on so you'll know when power has been restored.

As always, if you encounter an emergency, call **911**.

A few minutes of preparation today can help make the planned outage safe and inconvenience-free.

**INCIDENT INFORMATION RELEASE**

On the evening of July 4, 2026, Laramie County Fire District 5 responded to a reported structure fire in the 700 block of East 6th street in Pine Bluffs, after the Laramie County Combined Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 6:19 p.m.

The first fire department unit arrived on scene at approximately 6:21 p.m and found a large shop building already heavily involved in fire. Firefighters immediately initiated an aggressive fire attack while working to protect nearby exposures, including surrounding grass and vehicles and equipment parked near the structure.

Mutual aid was requested and received from Laramie County Fire Districts 1, 3, 4, and 6. Through the coordinated efforts of all responding personnel, the fire was brought under control and successfully prevented from spreading beyond the original structure.

No injuries were reported.

The fire is believed to be accidental in nature and is believed to have started while work was being performed on a motorcycle inside the shop. Fireworks stored within the building were ignited by the fire, which likely contributed to the rapid growth and intensity of the blaze.

Laramie County Fire District 5 would like to thank our mutual aid partners and assisting agencies for their prompt response and teamwork. Additional assistance was provided by the Pine Bluffs Police Department, Pine Bluffs EMS, the Town of Pine Bluffs Public Works Department, Kip Shoemaker from the Bushnell Fire Department and several civilians who helped block streets and aided the Firefighters.

Crews are cleaning up from a structure fire earlier. We were able to cut some help loose and start with set up of our Fireworks show. Right now it appears we should be able to start on time! Between 9:15 and 9:45. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Today, several of our dedicated volunteers spent more than 8 hours preparing for tomorrow night's 250th Independence Day fireworks celebration. Countless hours of planning and hard work have gone into making what we hope will be a spectacular show!

The weather forecast is looking just about perfect. Recent rainfall has helped green up the vegetation a little bit, and by showtime, winds are expected to be light with higher humidity—great conditions for a safe and spectacular display.

Safety remains our top priority. We'll have multiple members of Laramie County Fire District #5, along with neighboring fire departments, stationed throughout the area with fire apparatus ready to respond if needed.

We hope you'll join us tomorrow evening at dusk (approximately 9:30 PM)at the Baseball Field/Rodeo Grounds Complex near Highway 30 and Beech Avenue as we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday together.

Pictured is Grass 5-7 and its crew, who were sent to Sioux County, Nebraska, on a mutual aid request through the Tri-State mutual aid association to the Log Road Fire.

This summer is shaping up to be one of neighbors helping neighbors. The State of Nebraska has faced more than its share of challenges, and we're proud to lend a hand whenever we're able. Supporting our neighboring communities and agencies is part of what we do.

We wish everyone deployed fighting fires this summer a safe deployment and safe travels.

State of Nebraska type 3 incident management team has taken command of the Log Road Fire today, July 1st at 0700. Local state and federal fire fighters are on-scene actively suppressing the fire, protecting structures, and working to secure lines. There is no measurable containment as of this morning.
