Now that school is back in session, please be sure to watch for the busses and pay attention. We want everyone to stay safe!

Minnesota has updated its school bus law to protect students and remove uncertainty for drivers.

This isn’t just about following the rules. It’s about making sure every student gets home safely.

Previously, the law required drivers to stop for a bus when its red flashing lights were flashing and the stop arm was extended.

Under the new law, drivers must stop at least 20 feet away as soon as the red lights start flashing.

Yesterday, our office responded to the area near Voyageur Lane after receiving a report of several cats that had been dumped along the side of the road in approximately four boxes.

This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible.

If you have any information about who may have done this to these cats, please contact the Pine County Sheriff’s Office at 320-629-8380 and reference case #26002061.

Please share this post. Someone may have seen something that could help us identify who is responsible.

SCAM ALERT!

Our office would like to make people aware of a scam that occurred at the Pine City Flea Market last week. A male was approached about buying jewelry and in the process his rings were taken, and he was left with costume jewelry. The suspects were described as a black male and a black female, both with heavy accents. Their vehicle is believed to be a VW Atlas, black in color.

The suspects are not associated with any of the legitimate vendors and are believed to be looking for a large crowd in which to target victims. Please contact the Sheriff’s Office if you have any information at 320-629-8380.

It's been 35 years since Deputy Mike Morrow of the Pine County Sheriff’s Office was killed in the line of duty as he conducted a traffic stop. Deputy Morrow served with the Pine County Sheriff’s Office for 11 years and is survived by two children and grandchildren. We will never forget. Our continued thoughts and prayers to his family and law enforcement family.

Chief Grice, Nicole from Medtronic and Sheriff Nelson all pose with Build-A-Bear stuffies that were graciously donated to our ofice.

A note from Medtronic:

At Medtronic, our sixth Mission tenet is to maintain good citizenship as a company, and we share a commitment to making our communities better through volunteerism and giving back. This year, the MECC Research and Development team came together and chose to host a Build-A-Bear activity. The team also wanted the effort to support more than one organization, including Minnesota Children’s Hospital and the Pine County Sheriff’s Office.

The stuffies are greatly appreciated and will be used when needed during tough calls.
