This is the Pine Grove railroad yard looking north from a signal tower on E. showing the point where the Schuyklill & Susquehanna track (L) meets the Lebanon & Tremont track (R). This yard was vital to the town's economy during this time period. It was also an important junction for the coal trade; from fifteen to eighteen train loads of coal passed through the town almost daily.
