The Harris County Sheriff’s Office would like to notify the public that two credit card skimmers were recently located at Dollar General stores in Waverly Hall and Pine Mountain Valley.

At this time, it is unclear how long the skimmers were in place. We encourage anyone who may have used their card at these locations to closely monitor their bank accounts and credit card statements for any unauthorized or fraudulent charges.

If you notice suspicious activity:
• Contact your bank or credit card company immediately
• Report the unauthorized charges

With the potential for severe thunderstorms, tornado watches, and flood warnings extending into tomorrow morning, our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our staff and students as they travel to school. Out of an abundance of caution, the Harris County School District will implement the following schedule adjustments for tomorrow, May 7:

Expected Weather Threats Include:
Damaging winds up to 60 mph
A few tornadoes possible (a strong tornado cannot be ruled out)
Heavy rainfall leading to possible flash flooding
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Thursday morning
Isolated hail up to quarter size

All schools will open on a two hour delayed start. Bus routes, school openings, and start times will be shifted two hours later than the regularly scheduled times. For example, a bus normally scheduled to pick up students at 7:00 AM will instead pick up at 9:00 AM.

Additional Information:
Breakfast will not be served.
Lunch will be served at the regularly scheduled times.
Dismissal procedures will remain unchanged.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

Burn Ban Lifted, Stormy Weather Ahead

WEATHER UPDATE 20260506 11 AM – The Outdoor Burn Ban for the local area has been lifted. However, due to windy conditions, outdoor burning is not advised.
Enjoy today because rain is forecast to move into the area beginning tonight.
Another cold front is approaching with winds today of 10 to 15 miles per hour and wind gusts as high as 20 mph, which could continue overnight. Outdoor items should be secured today. Today will be partly cloudy with a forecast high in the mid 80s. During the overnight hours, rain is projected to begin with the possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorms. This is forecast to extend into Thursday and a Flood Watch has been issued that includes the local area. Those residing in flood prone areas should be aware of the potential threat.
After a brief respite, there is a chance for additional rain and thunderstorms Friday night extending into Saturday and Sunday. The National Weather Service currently has the chances of rain/ thunderstorms at 50 percent Friday night, 40 percent Saturday and 60 percent Sunday. The commercial services are reporting higher percentage rates.
So much for enjoying the weekend but we do need the rain.
