VICTORY!

Due to the many actions taken by nine tribal governments, NDN Collective, BHCWA, Earthworks, all of our attorneys, thousands of people who sent public comments, and everyone else involved -- we just got word that the US Justice Department has informed our attorneys that Pete Lien & Sons is withdrawing their permit for the graphite mining project at Pe' Sla!! That means the current project is dead!!

This is a testament to the people, organizations, and tribal governments who showed unified action, determination, and courage in the face of what seemed to be overwhelming odds. It is unusual for a mining company to be slapped down decisively. Pe' Sla is safe!

It is possible that the company might reapply with a new plan. We will keep an eye out for that possibility. But for now, we will plan a victory celebration!
