New arrival at Pinedale Library. this is Happiness by Niall Williams. Adult Fiction

"Change is coming to Faha, a small Irish parish that hasn't changed in a thousand years. For one thing, the rain is stopping. Nobody remembers when it started; rain on the western seaboard is a condition of living. But now - just as Father Coffey proclaims the coming of the electricity - the rain clouds are lifting. Seventeen-year-old Noel Crowe is idling in the unexpected sunshine when Christy makes his first entrance into Faha, bringing secrets he needs to atone for. Though he can't explain it, Noel knows right then: something has changed. .As the people of Faha anticipate the endlessly procrastinated advent of the electricity, and Noel navigates his own coming-of-age and his falling in and out of love, Christy's past gradually comes to light, casting a new glow on a small world. Harking back to a simpler time, This Is Happiness is a tender portrait of a community - its idiosyncrasies and traditions, its paradoxes and kindnesses, its failures and triumphs - and a coming-of-age tale like no other. Luminous and lyrical, yet anchored by roots running deep into the earthy and everyday, it is about the power of stories: their invisible currents that run through all we do, writing and rewriting us, and the transforming light that they throw onto our world."--Publisher description.

New arrival at Pinedale Library “I Quit” - early reader.

Details'
"When kitty first got adopted, everything was purr-fect. Then came the rules. NO eating the bread! NO chasing the baby! BAD KITTY! Excuse me? She's not a bad kitty. Left with no choice, she says goodbye to everything she loves (even her favorite crinkled-up receipt) and quits! But kitty's adventure in the great outdoors doesn't go as planned, and she realizes that she may have made a few mistakes. She knows she can do better, but how can she get home? Would her family even want her back?" -- Amazon.

New arrival at Pinedale Library TRAGEDY TO TRIBUTE - non-fiction

“On December 29, 2005, George Anthony Lutz II, "Tony," was killed by a sniper's bullet while on patrol in Fallujah, Iraq. The devastating news shattered his family and friends, plunging them into shock, grief, and an unimaginable loss--a pain that has been shared by countless other families across the nation. In the months following Tony's funeral, his father George visited other families who had lost loved ones in war. What he discovered was a powerful, unspoken bond--a fellowship forged by sacrifice and shared sorrow, stretching back generations to the American Revolution, when the first patriots gave their lives for our country's freedom. As the grief of these families turned to acceptance, one question echoed in their minds as it did in Tony's family: Were their loved ones truly remembered? Determined to find an answer, George set out to discover a definitive symbol that America used to honor military fallen in a way that would endure. When he found none, the Honor and Remember Flag was born--a definitive beacon of appreciation to forever recognize those who gave everything for their country. George's mission of unification led him across all fifty states, grieving with thousands of Gold Star families, walking the halls of Congress and speaking to whomever would listen. His tireless advocacy ignited a movement for national remembrance, fighting for the recognition and respect that every fallen warfighter and their families deserve. Tragedy to Tribute is the deeply emotional story of one man's unwavering dedication to a cause that transcends politics and pain. It's a tribute not only to his son, but to the enduring legacy of every service member who gave their life in defense of freedom."-- front flap
