It’s not often that we get the opportunity to visit with patients after we transport them to the hospital, but yesterday we had a very special visitor at Pinetop Fire District.

Back in April, this gentleman experienced a life-threatening choking emergency. When our crews arrived shortly after the 911 call, they found him unresponsive and not breathing. Crews quickly identified the obstruction and used Magill forceps to remove the food from his airway before transporting him to the hospital for further treatment and monitoring.

Yesterday, he stopped by the station to visit the crews who helped him that day.

This is why we do what we do. Moments like this remind us why we became firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics to be there for someone on their worst day and hopefully make a difference in their life.

We are incredibly grateful he took the time to stop by, and even more grateful to see him doing well! Thank you for the doughnuts. 👊

Paramedic Cody Wallace and EMT Laura D’Aniello are currently deployed on the Frijoles Fire in New Mexico, representing Pinetop Fire District as a REM3 medical resource.

Their mission is to provide medical support to firefighters working in rugged and remote terrain. Equipped with a UTV, rope rescue equipment, Stokes basket, advanced medical gear, and additional rescue equipment, Cody and Laura are prepared to reach and assist firefighters should an injury occur in difficult-to-access areas.

Assignments like this highlight the versatility of our personnel and the importance of having trained medical resources positioned alongside firefighters on the fireline.

We’re proud of Cody and Laura for representing Pinetop Fire District with professionalism and dedication. Stay safe out there and come home soon! 🇺🇸🔥

We were proud to be a part of National Night Out and spend an awesome evening alongside our community and partner agencies!

Events like this are a great reminder of what makes the White Mountains such a special place. Strong communities, strong partnerships, and people who genuinely care about one another.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by the Pinetop Fire District booth, visited with our crews, and joined in the fun. We always enjoy the opportunity to connect with the people we serve outside of an emergency.

We also want to thank all of our fire, law enforcement, volunteers, and other partners who helped make National Night Out such a great event.

Strong Communities • Strong Partnerships • Stronger Together 🇺🇸🚒

When the tones drop, everything stops no matter what our crews are doing.

This morning, that happened right in the middle of our workout. It’s something that occurs regularly. Whether we’re training, sitting down for dinner, or trying to finish a workout, the mission always comes first.

We’re passionate about staying ready so we can give our very best to those we serve. Being prepared means moving with purpose, no matter the time of day or what we’re in the middle of.

This video captures our crews immediately after an intense workout, exhausted but ready to answer the call. It’s a small glimpse into the dedication, discipline, and commitment our firefighters bring to this community every single day.

This afternoon at approximately 1:29 PM, Battalion 11 from the Pinetop Fire District, Engine 13 from Timber Mesa Fire & Medical District, and our law enforcement partners from the Pinetop-Lakeside Police Department (PLPD) responded to a reported debris fire that was ultimately determined to be a small roadside fire.

Before crews arrived, several citizens stopped and began extinguishing the fire, helping prevent it from spreading further. We want to extend our sincere appreciation to those who took quick action and demonstrated what it means to look out for our community.

This incident serves as an important reminder that with warmer temperatures expected over the next several days, grasses and vegetation can dry out quickly, increasing the risk of fires.

You can help reduce the risk by:
🔥 Properly extinguishing all smoking materials.
🚛 Ensuring trailer safety chains are not dragging.
🚗 Avoiding parking vehicles on dry grass.
📞 Reporting any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling 911.

We’re all hoping for the return of the monsoon next week, but until then, let’s continue working together to protect our beautiful White Mountains.
