FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 18, 2026
Stage 1 fire restrictions starting Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 6:00 a.m.Holbrook, AZ –

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the voting members of the White Mountain Fire Coordinating Group (WMFCG) convened to assess current forest conditions and weather patterns throughout the region.

The members voted to recommend the enactment of Stage 1 fire restrictions in the unincorporated areas of Apache and Navajo Counties on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. Several other agencies, including the USFS Apache-Sitgreaves Forests, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, and select municipalities, will also implement similar restrictions.

While the restrictions are largely consistent across the region, some variations may apply depending on the jurisdiction. These restrictions apply to all individuals, including full-time residents, part-time residents, and visitors, therefore it is up to each individual to know the rules.

Information and updates can be found under the Fire Restriction tab at www.311info.net.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to K-9 Kaos AZ for their incredible support of our K9 program.

Because of their generosity, K9 Arko is now equipped with a ballistic vest that will help protect him while he serves our community. This type of equipment is critical in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of our K9 unit in the field.

K9 KAOS AZ continues to carry forward the legacy of K9 Kaos by supporting law enforcement agencies across Arizona with essential training equipment and resources. Their commitment to officer and K9 safety makes a meaningful difference for departments like ours.

We are grateful for their partnership and for the donors who make this work possible. Your support helps keep both our officers and their K9 partners safe.

Thank you for standing with us and helping protect those who protect our community.

Last week, the Arizona Department of Public Safety lost two heroes in the line of duty β€” AZDPS Trooper-Paramedic Hunter Bennett and Ranger 56 Pilot Robert Sk***ey.

They gave their lives serving the people of this state. Now we have the opportunity to show up for the families they left behind.

FOP Lodge 32 and the Arizona State Troopers Association are hosting three BBQ fundraising events across the state. 100% of the proceeds and donations go directly to their families. Donations are tax deductible.

Come out for great food, raffles, music, and community support as we honor our fallen Brothers.
