Keeping up with technology requires us to try new things...so here we go. The District is new to this form of media, but hopefully it will provide the readers a better understanding of what we do. In short we are a public organization that began many years ago for the purpose of protecting the environment of this area from pollution being caused by the lack of effective sewer treatment systems. r those that want to know more you may continue reading.... Currently we provide sewer service to almost 90% of those living within the District boundaries. The sewer or wastewater is collected and treated at plant located in Lakeside, AZ. The treated wastewater is discharged to a series of ponds, or wetlands that are located on Forest Service land. One of the by-products of a wastewater plant is biosolids, once known as sludge. In our industry terminologies have changed attempting to create a better picture for the public. The biosolids also require treatment and the District mixes paper/cardboard, wood chips and biosoids together for the purpose of composting. This method reclaims the value contained in the biosolids. Bottom line is what goes on at a treatment plant is designed to reclaim the value of water that is essential and vital for the health of the area served. The better we understand the world around us the better choices we can make. Somewhere I read this following statement that I believe to be true:
