We care about all who visit the facilities of the Alexandria VA Health Care System. With the spread of COVID-19 or the coronavirus, we are taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all. Please plan extra time for your appointment with the new screening procedures.

Beginning at 6 a.m. tomorrow, March 10th, at the Alexandria VA Medical Center, we will begin screening at our main entrance and north gate. The South Gate (behind the Community Living Center) will be closed until further notice. Gates will be manned from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. At 8 p.m. the north gate will close. Questions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control guidance will be used:

1. Do you have a fever? Do you have a worsening cough or flu-like symptoms?
2. Have you traveled to China, Japan, Italy, Iran or South Korea in the last 14 days?
3. Have you been in close contact with someone, including health care workers, confirmed to have the coronavirus disease?

If your screening is positive for at least two of these factors, you will need to be screened further. We have procedures in place to accomplish this to ensure the safety of all. We know that this will add time to your visit to our facility and ask for your patience.

ATTENTION: The phone system at all facilities of the Alexandria VA Health Care System are down, and no calls can be received at this time. We will be working with our phone carrier and keep you updated. Thank you for your patience.

8:27 a.m. Our phone system is back online.

Today we honor the poignant words President Lincoln on the 155th Anniversary of his Second Inaugural Address. Although it was less than 700 words, its message echoes through the ages and contains the foundation for our service to Veterans #BornetheBattle https://www.nps.gov/linc/learn/historyculture/lincoln-second-inaugural.htm
