August at your Bell County Cooperative Extension Service: Growing, Learning & Serving Our Community.

August was a busy and exciting month for Extension! From promoting Extension and our programs at local school’s open houses to supporting our county fair exhibitors, our team was out in the community sharing opportunities, resources, and information.

County Fair

We were proud to help promote Extension through the county fair and host exhibits. This year we had 142 entries that were showcased.

4-H

Our 4-H members worked hard on a variety of projects, including Country Ham. Four 4-H students presented a speech at State Fair, sharing the process and experience behind their Country Ham projects.

Our 4-H members also represented our county with exhibits on display at the State Fair—a wonderful accomplishment and something to be proud of!

Family & Consumer Sciences:

Our Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) programming stayed active this month with programs such as Wits, focusing on brain health, engagement, and staying mentally active, as well as Laugh & Learn, helping families prepare young children for kindergarten readiness through learning and play.

Our Homemakers also held their council meeting and attended a leaders training, bringing new information and ideas back to their local clubs to share with members.

Agriculture & Natural Resources:

Agriculture and Natural Resources continued serving our local agricultural community by holding the monthly Bee Club Meeting, providing an opportunity for beekeepers and those interested in beekeeping to learn and connect.

ANR also continued to rent equipment to farmers throughout the county, helping provide access to valuable resources for local agriculture.

Extension is for everyone.
Whether you're interested in 4-H, family and consumer sciences, homemakers, agriculture, natural resources, health, or community education, your Extension office is here to help.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, exhibited, attended a program, or helped us spread the word about Extension this month. We’re proud to be a part of this community and look forward to all September has to bring. Call our office at 337-2376 to learn more.
