Southern Loggers Cooperative is an association which provides expertise in negotiation and contract formulation for the membership which is composed of harvesters of timber, haulers of forest products in the natural state, finished products or products for recycling, forest road contractors, silvicultural contractors, forest landowners, farmers, ranchers, horticulturist or viticulturist. The philo

sophy of this cooperative is that the membership must receive the most competitive prices for their supplies, services and equipment. Southern Loggers Cooperative has three distinct customer groups: vendors, forest industry mills and/or facilities and financial institutions.

The Lufkin, Texas Station will be down for scheduled maintenance of our fueling system starting Monday - July 20th at 9:00 a.m. until Midnight.

The Southern Loggers Cooperative is fortunate and very pleased to announce the employment of David Abbott and a new staff member filling the role of Assistant Executive Vice President primarily working in the Alabama and eastern portion of the SLC footprint.

David Abbott is a seasoned communications professional with more than two decades of experience in the forest products industry. For 20 years, he served as Senior Editor at Hatton-Brown Publishing, where he built a reputation for insightful reporting, compelling storytelling, and strong relationships throughout the logging, forestry, and wood products sectors.

Following his tenure at Hatton-Brown, David joined Swamp Fox Agency, where he continued to help organizations strengthen their brands and connect with audiences through strategic communications and marketing initiatives.

David has now joined the Southern Loggers Cooperative team, bringing with him a wealth of industry knowledge, editorial expertise, and a deep understanding of the people and businesses that drive the forestry community. His background in journalism, communications, and relationship building positions him to support the Cooperative's mission of serving independent logging professionals while advancing the interests of the forest products industry.

Throughout his career, David has been recognized for his commitment to accurate reporting, thoughtful communication, and fostering meaningful connections across the industry. He looks forward to helping Southern Loggers Cooperative continue to grow its impact and strengthen its engagement with members, partners, and the broader forestry and logging communities.

Covington, VA Station is Temporarily down!

Covington, Virginia Station Users,

The SLC – Covington, VA Station is currently offline due to damage to a power pole at the Smurfit WestRock Mill. Repair crews are on-site or soon will be and working to restore service as quickly as possible. We anticipate the station may be operational by the end of the day, though repairs could extend into tomorrow depending on conditions.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Our team is working diligently with local crews to ensure power is restored and service resumes for our members as soon as possible.
