This week, investigators with the Crimes Against Children Task Force traveled to Dallas, Texas, to attend the world’s largest conference dedicated to training professionals who investigate crimes against children.

Professionals from 50 states and 16 different countries were in attendance.

Throughout the week, investigators completed specialized training in multiple areas related to child exploitation, abuse investigations, digital evidence, investigative techniques, and emerging threats to children.

Training like this allows our investigators to continue sharpening their skills, expanding their knowledge, and bringing proven investigative practices back to the communities we serve.

Our mission remains simple: protect children, pursue those who prey upon them, and provide the highest level of investigative response possible to the families who depend on us.

Today, Sheriff Brad Ellison and Captain Tommy Blankenship presented AJ Toler with an Award of Achievement for successfully completing a six-week summer training program with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office.

Throughout the program, AJ worked alongside our deputies and participated in the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff’s Office. He gained valuable experience in traffic stops, criminal arrests, investigations, crimes against children investigations, digital forensics, and court security procedures.

During these six weeks, AJ also publicly professed his faith through baptism, acknowledging Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In recognition of this important decision, Sheriff Ellison presented AJ with a Policeman’s Bible.

This program was made possible through MountainHeart Community Services, and we are grateful for their partnership and support.

Congratulations, AJ, on your accomplishments and on taking this meaningful step in both your professional and spiritual journey.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize Captain Tommy Blankenship and Sergeant Tyler Sizemore for successfully completing the 40-hour Cellebrite Advanced Smartphone Analysis course in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

This intensive, week-long training builds upon our ability to examine and interpret data recovered through Cellebrite forensic extractions. These skills are critical in many modern investigations, where digital evidence from phones and other devices can help establish timelines, identify offenders, locate victims, and provide essential evidence for prosecution.

Completion of this advanced course is an especially important accomplishment for the Wyoming–McDowell Crimes Against Children Task Force. As technology continues to play a larger role in crimes involving children, continued training and professional development are necessary to ensure our investigators remain prepared to handle complex digital evidence properly and effectively.

Captain Blankenship’s continued commitment to training, leadership, and strengthening the investigative capabilities of the Sheriff’s Office reflects our shared goal of providing Wyoming County with experienced, professional, and forward-thinking law enforcement.
