Happy Nevada Day! Did you know that when Nevada became a state on October 31st 1864 our little slice of heaven was part of Utah? We would not join Nevada until 1866 when a gold strike prompted congress to move Nevada's eastern border from the 38th to the 37th meridian adding about 37,000 square miles to Nevada.
