K9 Vader teamed up with Pioneer Public Library to show off some skills!

Community members gathered around to hear how K9 Vader does searches and is used in our village.

They also got to watch several demonstrations to include finding lost items, bitework, protecting Sgt Mills, and several kids even tried to outrun K9 Vader!

Local pageant queens were in attendance also!

K9 Vader loves the Pioneer Library (there’s always lots of kids to love on him)! He joined the group after summer lunch !

Did you know students can get a free summer lunch at the library all summer long?!

Come visit K9 Vader at Cromer Park on July 14th at 1pm as he hangs out with the library staff again!

K9 VADER ACHIEVES STATE OF OHIO RECERTIFICATION:

In Ohio, law enforcement canine units must be certified annually by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC). This certification ensures that the canine unit (handler and dog) meets the minimum standards for patrol or special purpose work. The certification process includes successful completion of an approved training program and a certification examination of which Sgt. Randy Mills and K9 Vader exceeded all minimum standards.

Armed Forces Day is observed on the third Saturday, every May. This is a day dedicated to paying tribute to men and women currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

PIONEER BREAKING NEWS:

We thank the Williams County Sheriff's Office and the Montpelier Ohio Police Department for their assistance with our pursuit early this morning. The efforts of the Montpelier Police Department's officers to deploy stop spikes brought a dangerous pursuit to a safe end and the driver into custody without incident.

READ TO K9 VADER ON WEDNESDAYS:

The Pioneer Police Department's K9 Vader and Sgt. Mills will be at the Pioneer Branch of the Williams County Public Library at 3pm every Wednesday in November and the first two Wednesdays in December.

Students of all ages are invited to read aloud to everyone's favorite Pioneer Police Officer, K9 Vader. K9 Vader loves listening to stories and being read to and this is a great opportunity for young readers to practice their reading skills in a relaxed and fun environment. Whether you're a seasoned reader, or just beginning, come out and enjoy this unique opportunity to read stories and have fun while doing so.
