🔥BURN BAN IN EFFECT-Well folks, here we are again! 🔥

Bandera County is under a Burn Ban as of August 27th, 2026. Conditions are getting pretty dry; we’re asking everyone to please avoid burning whenever possible.

If you absolutely must burn, it needs to be -
▪️Household garbage ONLY,
▪️Contained in a burn barrel with a proper mesh cover, and
▪️No open burning!

Better yet—let's just skip the match and make a trip to the dump. We know it’s not as convenient, BUT neither is having the fire department show up because your fire decided to go visit the neighbors. 🔥

It doesn’t take much for a small fire to get out of control. Taking a few extra precautions can help prevent property damage, protect our community, and keep you from facing costly fines—or even jail time.

Please help us protect our residents, first responders, and beautiful Bandera County. When in doubt, don’t burn!

School is back in session next week, so here are a few back to school highway safety tips! 🚌

🐌SLOW DOWN in school zones and do not use cellular devices.

🚸Yellow flashing lights indicate the bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children. You should slow down and prepare to stop your vehicle.

🛑Red flashing lights and extended stop arms indicate the bus has stopped and children are getting on or off. You must stop your car and wait until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop-arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving, before you can start driving again. A center left-turn lane does not count as a divider, so traffic in both directions must stop.

Even when lights aren’t flashing, watch for children, particularly in the morning or mid-afternoon, around school arrival and dismissal times. Be alert as you back out of a driveway, or drive through a neighborhood, school zone or bus stop.
