Happening today at Moore Park on N. Hiawatha Ave.

The Pipestone Veterans Memorial Committee is holding a 🇺🇸 🧺 Flag Day Picnic on Sunday, June 14th at Moore Park in Pipestone Minnesota as a fundraiser for the Memorial. Again this year, the event will include a Flag Retirement Ceremony to dispose of our community’s weathered flags properly and respectfully. And NEW this year, several of our community’s veterans will be presented with Quilts of Valor. Everyone is welcome! A great event to honor our veterans, celebrate our nation, and teach youth about our flag, the freedoms it represents, and the sacrifices of those who have served under it.

On June 22nd the City Council will be discussing how to move forward with repairs to the Historic Carnegie Library. The city has received a $122,000 grant to repair the East wall of the building and budgeted for the other half of the project; however, the bid that came in for the project was approximately $31,000 - $39,000 higher than expected. In addition, the roof of the building is also in need of replacement. It is important to know that prior agreements do not allow for the building to be demolished. Many have also asked why the city is not seeking donations. The city is able to accept donations if someone is passionate about this project and would like to donate but cannot explicitly seek donations.
To learn more about the Historic Carnegie Library check out the information provided by the Pipestone County Museum below 👇
