Tonight marked the beginning of a stronger partnership between Arbor Hose and New Market.

Members of Arbor Hose Fire Company and New Market Fire Company came together for a joint training focused on strengthening communication, coordination, and teamwork between both companies.

All with one common goal: providing the best possible service to the residents of District 1 and District 3.

As we train, respond, and grow together, we're taking proactive steps to better serve every resident in District 1 and District 3.

Two districts, one mission, one family.

At approximately 2:30 AM this morning, Arbor Hose Fire Company responded to a reported structure fire on 8th Street.

Upon arrival, Chief 60 and Chief 40 encountered a heavily involved structure, with the majority of the fire conditions on the Charlie side. Truck 66 and Engine 41 deployed attack lines, with crews operating on both the Alpha and Charlie sides of the structure.

Due to the extent of the fire and the need for additional manpower, a second alarm was requested, bringing additional resources to the scene.

All occupants were accounted for. Crews worked extensively to bring the fire under control and complete overhaul operations before clearing the scene at approximately 6:00 AM.

We would like to thank all of our mutual aid partners and sister companies throughout the township for their assistance, teamwork, and collaborative effort throughout the incident.

Last night, our members continued their in-house training, focusing on pump operations, water supply, and hose advancement.

Our team continues to train and improve their skills through hands-on practice. Establishing a reliable water supply in a timely manner and efficiently advancing hose lines are essential to getting water on the fire quickly when every second counts.

Last night, Arbor Hose probationary members Ruth Lopez and Bryce Shipman officially begin their journey at the Middlesex County Fire Academy, alongside Afaq Qamar, Cristian Rodriguez Sarmiento, and Sebastian Cruz from New Market Fire Company. (New Market Fire Department)

Last night training focused on one of the most critical aspects of the fire service: vehicle stabilization and extrication.

Members worked through various scenarios involving cribbing, lifting airbags, stabilization techniques, glass management, and patient access. Before any rescue can begin, firefighters must ensure the vehicle is properly stabilized to create a safe environment for both the victim and rescuers.

What stood out most tonight wasn't just the skills being practiced, it was the teamwork, communication, and commitment to learning displayed by every member on scene. From our senior firefighters sharing their experience to our junior members eagerly absorbing knowledge, everyone played a role in making this training a success.

Training doesn't happen for recognition it happens so we're ready when our community calls for help. Every drill, every repetition, and every lesson learned prepares us to provide the highest level of service to the residents we proudly serve.

Two intense calls, one committed team!

On June 11th, Arbor Hose responded to a second-alarm fire on Bound Brook Avenue, assisting our sister companies in District 2. Arbor's crew played an active role in the extinguishment efforts, working alongside neighboring departments to bring the incident under control.

Just hours later, at approximately 5:00 a.m. on June 12th, Arbor Hose was called to New Brunswick to stand by during their fourth-alarm fire. Shortly thereafter, our crew was brought to the scene to assist with overhaul operations.

From District 2 to New Brunswick, our members continue to demonstrate that dedication, teamwork, and service know no boundaries. We are proud of the commitment our firefighters show to both our community and our neighboring departments whenever the call comes in.

Tonight’s shoutout goes to these incredible members who took the initiative to expand their knowledge and sharpen their skills. From ladder throws and single-firefighter ladder carries to pushing themselves through physical training, they demonstrated what it means to be committed to the craft.

The fire service isn't about doing the minimum, it's about continuously learning, improving, and preparing for the day someone depends on you. Every ladder thrown, every skill practiced, and every drop of sweat invested today builds confidence, competence, and readiness for tomorrow.

Your dedication, work ethic, and willingness to put in the extra effort do not go unnoticed. Keep striving to be better than you were yesterday. The difference between good and great is often found in the work that happens when no one is watching.
