EPICS in IEEE will be at the I²MTC 2026 conference in Nancy, France, where we’ll be exhibiting and supporting four student teams presenting their community-driven engineering projects at the IMS/EPICS Project Showcase. We’re proud of our long-standing partnership with the Instrumentation and Measurement Society (IMS), whose support helps make these student experiences possible.

If you’re attending I²MTC, stop by the EPICS in IEEE table and the project showcase to meet the teams and learn more about our initiatives! https://i2mtc2026.ieee-ims.org/

We’re excited to announce that two EPICS in IEEE projects have been awarded funding through the Dr. Swarn S. Kalsi Community of Projects Fund through the IEEE Foundation. Established through a generous memorial gift from the Kalsi family and friends, this fund empowers multidisciplinary student teams to design real‑world solutions that benefit their local communities. These awards honor Dr. Kalsi’s belief that engineers build the future and that education can transform lives.

Students from North Carolina State University's Electrical and Computer Engineering Senior Design Program in North Carolina are developing a high‑throughput system to measure, classify, and singulate crop seeds. Supported by funding from EPICS in IEEE, the project uses imaging and automation to estimate seed size and mass, organize data at scale, and support controlled growth experiments.
