Last night, after returning from a motor vehicle accident on River Road, Engine 71 was dispatched at 12:54 a.m. for Box 2-4, a reported commercial structure fire in District 4 (North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company).

Upon arrival, the North Stelton Chief confirmed a smoke condition in one of the businesses within a strip mall. Engine 71 secured a hydrant and laid 400 feet of 5-inch supply hose to Ladder 627. The crew then advanced an interior handline and conducted overhaul operations using pike poles.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies, the fire was brought under control at approximately 2:45 a.m. Great work by all personnel involved in keeping our community safe. 🚒🔥

The members of Rescue Company 1 are heartbroken over the loss of our brother, Robert Kilduff, Jr - Rescue Company 2.

Firefighter “BK” Kilduff gave his life in the service of others.

A 27-year-old firefighter was killed and 10 others were injured after a massive explosion and fire ripped through a lumber company in Maine, officials said.

The fire was reported Friday morning at a silo at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont, officials said. Searsmont is about 90 miles northeast of Portland.

Firefighters were on the scene when an explosion occurred, killing 27-year-old Andrew Cross and injuring multiple people, including some who were hospitalized in critical condition, the public safety department said.
