On this day... 22 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning tomorrow. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

PITKIN CHRISTMAS PARADE RUMOR CONTROL:
1) There is no charge for entries into parade
2) There was no pre-registration, just show up for lineup around 1 PM
3) There is NO BAN on 4 Wheelers or Side-By-Sides (however, we ask that riders be COURTEOUS, and practice all safety pre-Cautions. If Parade Official ask you to go to your line up area, we'd appreciate no back talk) It would be better and less confusing if all riders stayed in the line up area until conclusion of parade.
4) AND NO, we are not the Grinch, we just want to have a fun and safe event for the Community.

ALSO, there will be 3 porta-johns available on each end of street and near Community Center. Unfortunately we are experiencing issues with the restrooms at Center and they will not be available.

PITKIN PARADE IS ON FOR THIS SATURDAY, 11 DEC, 2PM. Be prepared for rain just in case. ( It is hard to determine from the weather forecast.) Consensus from FB is have it. Parade lineup will begin around 1PM in front of school. Per Mrs. Miller

We would like to thank everyone that took a chance today on the gummie bear and unicorn. We did the drawing and the winners were both notified and each got their prize. The gummie bear was won by Joseph Strother and the gummie unicorn was won by Mary Doyle. Congratulations to each of you and again thank you all that either bought tickets or gave contributions. As most of you know we do a toy drive every year along side Dollar General. This year since we are low on funds we will be doing a raffle as well. This is the first raffle we have ever done so please bear (No pun intended) with us. We have a 1 pound gummy bear and a 1 pound gummy unicorn. We are selling tickets for $1. They will be separate prizes so there will be two winners. All proceeds will be kept in the community. If you would like to buy a ticket details will be down below. The money will be used to buy more toys for the kids that don’t get much. We want to make everyone have a very Merry Christmas.

We will be at the parade selling them. For any questions please feel free to message us. The drawing will be held after the parade. We would like you to be present but obviously you don’t have to be. Thank you.

Barbeque master's 4 disasters. We want to give you a huge shout out and thank you from this hometown proud town of Pitkin, La. Y'all are awesome. Y'all are welcome back here anytime. Always know this town appreciates everything y'all did. Thank you from the both of my heart and I know a lot of others feel the same way. Gene, Shaun, Toor, Sam, Kat, Lee, Misty y'all will forever be family. Safe travels and God Bless Y'all.

We want to give everyone a heads up. The wonderful guys that have been cooking 3 hot meals a day and keeping us feed will be leaving. Their time with us has come to an end. They are being sent somewhere else. Please make sure and show our Pitkin spirit with gracious gratitude. They have really enjoyed their experience here except for maybe the love bugs. If you have a little extra time just maybe give them all a Thank you shout out. Wednesday will be the last day they will be able to cook. We are praying everyone gets electricity by then.
