Wednesday was another full day for the cadets attending the Pitman Police Department Junior Police Academy.

They met with Officer Swan from Gloucester County SWAT and learned about the equipment and, and then they did mock car stops with Corporal Pierson and other PPD officers, then learned about police investigations from PPD Detective Hagan and Investigator Leon.

After the tour and demonstration at Pitman Fire Company Number One, the cadets then took a tour of the Old County jail located in Woodbury. A big thank you to S/O to Amy Stranahan. After the tour, they met with S/O Sweeney and his canine partner for another talk and demonstration. After that they had a meet and greet and a fun discussion with Honorable Judge DePersia.

Later, PPD K9 Unit, Cpl. EJ Parker and K-9 Mike gave a presentation.

All in all, it was a very fun-filled and informative day for each cadet and officer.

Started with a tour and demonstration at Pitman Fire Company Number One. A very big thank you to Matt Gresko, Patrick Sharkey, and Hunter Sharkey of Pitman Fire Company Number One.

Day 1 of the Pitman PD Junior Police Academy was on Monday. The coordinator for the academy is PO/SRO Richard Herrmann. The Cadets had a busy day with exercises, some classroom time and a tour of the county complex in Clayton, they spoke with County EMS, visited the animal shelter and got to sit in at the communications center while calls for service were being taken and dispatched. We give a great big shout-out and thank you to county employees, Brittany Sullivan and Andrew Halter, who organized it all for the Cadets. Great job PO Herrmann and all of the officers who assisted. And of course, great job, Cadets, keep it up!!

It is with great sadness that we post about the passing of long-time Pitman Court Administrator, Mrs. Annemarie Camilli on August 13th. Annemarie was a consummate professional and friend to the PPD. Annemarie will be missed and our thoughts and prayers are with her, her family, co-workers, and friends. RIP Annemarie and Godspeed.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing earlier today of K-9 Ranger. Ranger teamed with Corporal EJ Parker to become the first Pitman PD K-9 unit. The unit was formed by then PPD Chief Robert T. Zimmerman's vision and leadership. Our hearts are shattered here at the PPD, and our thoughts and prayers are with Ranger, Cpl. EJ Parker, his wife, Stephanie, and their family.
