Make sure you're charging lithium-ion devices safely and using the charger recommended by the manufacturer. Never charge a device under a pillow, on a bed, or where it can overheat.

Knowing how to charge safely can help prevent a fire before it starts!

September 11, 2001

Twenty-five years later, we remember the 343 firefighters who entered the World Trade Center that morning and never came home.

That day also took the lives of police officers, EMS personnel, other public safety officials, and thousands of civilians. We also remember those who responded and survived, but later lost their lives to illnesses resulting from their time at Ground Zero. Behind every one of those lives were families, friends, and communities left to carry their absence.

A quarter century has passed, but the significance of that day has not. We honor those who were lost and the lives they left behind.

We were proud to be part of this successful rescue last night in Putnam County. C1102 and Tactical 111 responded to assist alongside numerous neighboring departments.

We were honored to once again help kick off the Annual Schmitty Open. Now in its 7th year, the event continues to honor the legacy of Madison Twp. Fire Department Firefighter Joshua Schmidt, who passed away suddenly in 2019.

The JDS Foundation continues to raise funds for charitable giving and to support the Schmidt family. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of this special event.

Today marked the final day of a week long Confined Space Rescue course hosted here at the Pittsboro Fire Department.

Throughout the week, members of our department and Plainfield Fire Territory spent time in both the classroom and hands on training environment developing the knowledge and skills necessary to serve as Confined Space Rescue Technicians. These specialized skills are invaluable and strengthen our ability to safely and effectively respond to confined space emergencies within our communities.

We appreciate the hard work of all the students and instructors throughout the week. A special thank you to ADS for their donation of pipe, which was used to create realistic training props and provide students with challenging, hands on scenarios. This donation directly supports our training efforts and is greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your support.

We would like to congratulate Captain Kyle Johnson and Lieutenant Jimmie Vogel on completing 20 years of service with the Pittsboro Fire Department.

They began their careers together on August 14, 2006. Twenty years later, both continue to be role models and leaders within our department. Captain Johnson is assigned to B Shift and Lieutenant Vogel is assigned to C Shift.
