Chatham Sheriff's Animal Resources The CCSO Animal Resource Center (ARC) is a great place to meet & adopt your next furry family member! The ARC works hard to reunite owners with lost pets.

The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Animal Resource Center provides many resources to the public and animals of Chatham County. The ARC Shelter provides necessary medical care, vaccinations, enrichment, and alteration for shelter animals and has many wonderful animals available for adoption! The ARC also provides resources for affordable spay/neuter, works with fosters and rescues to help animals get adopted. We help animals find their furever home and help you find your new best friend.

🐾 From a dark closet to a brighter future. 🐾

On May 7, CCSO deputies responding to a well-being check discovered three neglected dogs inside a home, including a cocker spaniel found in heartbreaking condition after years of neglect.

Now known as Mr. Pickles, this resilient pup was transferred to the care of Longleaf Animal Rescue and received extensive medical treatment thanks to the teamwork of the Chatham Sheriff’s Animal Resource Center, VEG ER for Pets in Chapel Hill, and dedicated veterinary staff.

After having 12 pounds of severely matted fur removed and receiving treatment for multiple medical issues, Mr. Pickles is making an incredible recovery. The dog who was once terrified of human contact is now wagging his tail, seeking affection, and winning hearts across the country.

His journey is a powerful reminder of the resilience of animals and the impact that compassion, patience, and teamwork can have on a life in need.

We are grateful to Longleaf Animal Rescue, VEG ER for Pets, and everyone involved in Mr. Pickles' care. His story isn't over yet, but thanks to many caring hands, his future is looking much brighter. ❤️🐶

ARC rabies vaccine clinic a success! 💉👏😻

On Saturday, May 23, the Chatham Sheriff’s Animal Resource Center hosted another free pet vaccine clinic, helping local pet owners protect their cats and dogs with important vaccinations at no cost.

Thanks to the support of Petco Love and BISSELL Pet Foundation, along with our outstanding veterinary partners, a total of 296 animals received vaccines during the event. That included 65 core vaccines for cats and 125 core vaccines for dogs, all provided free of charge.

We’re also grateful for the continued partnership and support from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine & Veterinary Hospital, and Dr. Bonnie Ammerman of Hill Creek Veterinary Hospital, whose teams helped make the clinic such a success.

Thank you to everyone who came out to care for their pets and help keep our community’s animals healthy and protected. 🫶
