🚒 Honoring a Legacy of Service 🚒

We also officially retired Number 644, Mark Scott — a name that means so much to the Bennett and Bonlee Fire Departments.

Mark devoted 50 years of his life to the fire service, always answering the call to protect and serve others. He served as Chief of Bonlee Fire from 1976–1983 and was honored as Firefighter of the Year in 1975 and again in 1983 — a true testament to his dedication and leadership.

Mark’s wife, Janet, shared that he loved helping others and supporting his fellow firefighters. He was a loving, giving man who lived to serve. Outside the firehouse, Mark found peace and joy fishing and kayaking with his family, living a life full of purpose both on and off duty.

Mark’s legacy of integrity, hard work, and kindness will forever live on in the countless lives he touched and the department he helped shape.

Thank you, Mark, for a lifetime of service.
You will never be forgotten. ❤️🚒

🔥 January is Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month 🔥

At Bonlee Fire Department, we recognize January as Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month—a time to honor the brave firefighters who have been impacted by occupational cancer and to raise awareness about the risks associated with the job.

Firefighters are exposed to carcinogens on nearly every call, making cancer one of the leading causes of line-of-duty deaths in the fire service. Awareness, prevention, early detection, and proper decontamination practices are critical in protecting those who protect our community.

This month, we stand with firefighters and their families, remember those we’ve lost, and recommit ourselves to safety, health, and education within the fire service.

Thank you for your continued support of Bonlee Fire Department and our mission to serve and protect. ❤️🚒

Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, and we want to take a moment to say thank you to all law enforcement officers, especially the men and women of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. 💙

Every day, officers put on the uniform ready to serve and support their communities. Here in Chatham County, our deputies and staff do that work with dedication, professionalism, and heart. The long hours, tough calls, and sacrifices made by officers and their families do not go unnoticed.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Lisa Hourani with Piedmont Cremation & Funeral Service for stopping by yesterday with a thoughtful meal and fruit tray as a way to thank us for all we do in the community. Your kindness and support truly mean a lot.

We are grateful for the continued support of our community and proud to serve alongside all law enforcement. 🫶
