Yesterday morning at approximately 8:00 a.m., North Chatham Fire was dispatched as part of an automatic aid assignment for a commercial structure fire with Eli Whitney Volunteer Fire Department. Battalion Chiefs 1 and 2, Tanker 311, Tanker 411, Engine 1912, and Chief 1 responded to assist with fire suppression efforts, water point setup, and water haul operations. Crews cleared the scene at approximately 1:00 p.m.

The department is set to benefit from the introduction of a new Battalion Chief position, with 2 per shift effective today July 1st. This key leadership opportunity aims to strengthen daily operational capacity, enhance crew coordination, and offer additional support to our firefighting teams and emergency responders. Serving as a vital point of command during critical incidents, the Battalion Chief will contribute to training and preparedness, staffing, and resource allocation, ensuring the highest level of community service. Improved communication between senior leadership and frontline personnel will enable more effective responses during emergencies. Last night just after 10pm, North Chatham Fire was dispatched from Chatham Communications on an automatic aid assignment to assist Pittsboro Fire with a commercial structure fire in the Chapel Ridge Community. Engine 412 and Tower 1 responded to provide assistance. Pittsboro Tower 12, North Chatham Tower 1 and Truck 9 from Siler City all setup for an aerial Ops.

On April 11, 2026, at approximately 3:30 a.m., North Chatham Fire along with automatic aid partners, First Health of the Carolinas, and Chatham County Sheriff's Office, were dispatched to the 3700 block of Manns Chapel Rd in reference to a structure fire. The first arriving unit found heavy fire at the dispatched location. At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. We will provide more information when available.
