EXPLICIT CONTENT: A Pittsburg man is now in custody after he allegedly posted superimposed headshots of minors onto photos of other adult, sexually-positioned bodies.
The Pittsburg Police Department (PPD) began an investigation April 5 after receiving numerous complaints from parents about inappropriate social media posts. The photos of underage children, as young as one, were depicted in a sexually, explicit manner. After interviewing more than 25 parents and their children, the PPD secured a search warrant and later an arrest warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Broach St. in Pittsburg.
Gregory Lee Bunt, a 61-year-old white male, was taken into custody April 7 and booked into the Camp County Jail in reference to charges of Unlawful Disclosure or Promotion of Intimate Visual Material (a state jail felony) and Unlawful Production or Distribution of Certain Sexually Explicit Media (a third-degree felony).
According to authorities, Bunt's personal page has been flagged several times previously for explicit content. After the page is disabled or removed, he allegedly creates a new one and continues posting lewd pictures of minors.
Under Texas law, unlawful disclosure of intimate visual material, sometimes referred to as "revenge p**n" is a state jail felony. It involves intentionally disclosing, without consent, intimate images that cause harm and reveal the subject's identity, punishable by 180 days to 2 years in state jail and up to a $10,000 fine.
The second offense, the unlawful production or distribution of sexual "deep fake" media (non-consensual, AI-generated, or altered imagery), is generally a Class A misdemeanor, but upgrades to a third-degree felony if the victim is under 18 or the offender has a prior conviction. Penalties for a third-degree felony can include 2 to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.
"We want this to serve as notice that we take anything like this very seriously," Pittsburg Police Chief Matthew Lemarr said. "If any other children believe they have also been victims, please come forward with your parents and let us know. We will investigate every single incident."
This case is still under investigation and may result in more charges being filed. To file a complaint related to this case, call (903) 856-7201 or go to the Pittsburg Police Department at 520 S. Greer Blvd.
