The Family & Consumer Sciences Department is one of the two original programs started on campus back in 1903. Our new building (2003), represents the latest in features for the 21st century in the fields of Early Childhood, Interior Design, Fashion Merchandising, Individual and Family Management and FCS Teacher Education. The Family and Consumer Sciences professional association is the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS.org).

Looking for a meaningful way to earn graduate credit while making a difference in your community? Through a partnership between Pittsburg State University and Kids Feeding Kids, educators can earn up to 3 graduate credit hours by participating in a Kids Feeding Kids Educator Institute and implementing the curriculum in their classrooms.

✨ Opportunities include:
β€’ 2 graduate credits for completing a 3-day Educator Institute (EI)
β€’ 1 graduate credit for implementing the Educator Institute curriculum

Acceptance into a KFKids Educator Institute is required before applying to Pitt State. Application and course enrollment may be retroactively initiated up to 1 year after the completion of an EI or the implementation of an EI curriculum, depending on the FCS 840 course selected.
