Held annually during the second full week of April, this week honors the 911 dispatchers, call takers, and emergency communication professionals who serve as the critical, 24/7 link between the public and first responders.

They are the calm voices in the chaos.
The steady presence in moments of uncertainty.
The unseen heroes behind every call for help.

We see you. We thank you. 🇺🇸

If you find yourself wondering whether a text message is a scam… it probably is.

Even if the message appears to reference a real situation or location, do not respond or use the contact information provided in the message. Instead, look up an official phone number yourself and verify it directly.

Trust your instincts—if something feels off, it usually is.

Stay alert. Stay safe.

Please share this with friends, family, and neighbors—especially those who might be more vulnerable to this type of scam.

A few RED FLAG words or behaviors:

Random contacts on your computer or phone concerning security or financial information
Random Phone calls requesting money
Random text or emails from a court from an area you have not been
Payment by gift cards
Payment by Crypto
Payment by Bitcoin
Payment by wire transfer from your local bank to a foreign institution
Payment by cash at your home or meeting place
Threats of tipping local law enforcement of a crime you did that you did not do
Telling you to keep it a SECRET

This is not an all inclusive list of what could be a RED FLAG, but just an example of some of what is currently being used.

Stay vigilant

Camp County, the City of Pittsburg and the City of Rocky Mound are under a burn ban effective immediately. All outside burning is prohibited. Open barbecue grills and smokers are prohibited. Please share!!

Original post - February 24, 2026

It has been asked several times whether we are currently under a burn ban. At this time, (February 24, 2026) we are not.

That said, with the dry conditions and steady winds we’ve all been experiencing, the more important question isn’t “Can we burn?” — it’s “Should we Burn ?

Remember that you are responsible not only for your property, but also for the safety of your neighbors and our community as a whole.

Let’s all do our part to prevent unnecessary fires and keep everyone safeltry

Release from Wood County SO

On February 14th, 2026 Deputies and D.P.S personal attempted to serve six Felony Warrants on a subject near the intersection of F.M. 515 and F.M. 2966. While attempting to execute the warrant, the wanted subject began firing multiple rounds from a semi-automatic weapon at Law Enforcement personal. One Wood County Deputy suffered multiple gun shot wounds and one D.P.S. Trooper was also injured sustaining gun shot wounds.

This is an on- going fluid situation, the suspect is still barricaded in his residence. Wood County Special Response Team is on scene along with Texas Rangers. Please avoid the area if possible. There is a large Law Enforcement Presence in the area.

The suspect has the following warrants:
