๐ŸŽ’ Celebrating Students, Families, and Community! ๐ŸŽ‰

I was honored to join Pittsburg students, families, educators, and community partners at PAAACTโ€™s 5th Annual Back-to-School BBQ at Small World Park.

It was a joyful evening of food, music, school supplies, resources, and connection. Events like this help students and families begin the school year feeling supported, encouraged, and ready to thrive.

Thank you to PAAACT and everyone who helped create such a welcoming celebration for our young people and families. Together, we prepare. Together, we thrive.

๐ŸŒŸ Celebrating Healing, Hope & Community ๐ŸŒŸ

I was honored to join community members, advocates, and local leaders in celebrating the first anniversary of the 40 Voices African American Holistic Wellness & Resource Hub at Delta Bay Community Church in Antioch.

Created through NAMI Contra Costaโ€™s 40 Voices Campaign, this culturally responsive, community-led space connects residents with mental health support, wellness resources, healing, and meaningful connection. Its โ€œFor Us, By Usโ€ approach is helping reduce stigma, build trust, and expand access to support in our African American community.

It was especially meaningful to recognize NAMI Contra Costa CEO and 40 Voices Campaign founder Gigi R. Crowder for her leadership, as well as civil rights attorney John L. Burris, who was inducted into the African American Wall of Fame as a Change Agent.

Congratulations to Gigi, NAMI Contra Costa, Delta Bay Community Church, and every partner and community member who has helped make this first year one of hope, healing, and joy.

I was happy to support the 2026 Central Contra Costa Career and Resource Fair in Concord, a community proudly represented by both Contra Costa County Districts 4 and 5.

The fair brought together job seekers, employers, and community partners to connect residents with career opportunities, valuable resources, and pathways toward a brighter future.

Thank you to Mt. Diablo Adult Education Center, East Bay WORKS, and all the partners who helped make this important event possible!

๐ŸŒ‰ Supporting Immigrant Communities Across the Bay Area

I was honored to join Bay Area leaders for Belonging in the Bay, a regional convening focused on supporting immigrant communities, strengthening public trust, and ensuring families can access essential services.

The gathering highlighted the important role immigrants play in our communities and economy, as well as the significant impacts immigration enforcement can have on families throughout the region, including here in Contra Costa County.

Every resident deserves to feel safe, valued, and connected to the community they call home. I remain committed to working with regional partners to support immigrant families and strengthen communities across District 5 and the Bay Area.

Thank you to San Mateo County and everyone who helped bring leaders together for this important conversation. ๐Ÿ’™
