Join us as we connect with the Earth and each other during a public art workshop with Naomi Chambers and Alecia Dawn Young where you'll get the chance to plant in the garden and make ceramic tiles to add to an onsite public sculpture. Make your tile even more personal by bringing a small item from home to press into your tile.

About the public art piece:

"Home" is an idea of softness and honors the memory, work, and communal care of Black life and culture in the Hill District.

Referencing brick, the building material that housed so many of the Hill District’s residents, this freestanding sculptural piece celebrates evolving notions of refuge, retreat, and the feeling of home and connectedness. Curved to mimic the embrace of a mother’s hug, "Home" embraces change and the invitation to a growing sense of belonging.

This project is a City of Pittsburgh Percent for Art Program in collaboration with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.
