Back to School BWSD!

The halls are filling back up, backpacks are packed, and another school year is almost here!

The Baldwin Borough Police Department is proud to welcome students, teachers, and staff back for the 2026–2027 school year. Our officers will be out and about in the community and around our schools as everyone settles into the new school year.

📚 First Day Reminders:
The first day of school for Baldwin-Whitehall School District students in grades 3–12 is Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Our youngest learners will have a staggered start on August 26–27, with full attendance beginning Friday, August 28.

🚸 As we head back to school, please remember to:
• Slow down and use extra caution in school zones
• Watch for students crossing streets and walking to school
• Allow extra space and time around school buses
• Give yourself a little extra time during the morning and afternoon commute
• Stay alert and avoid distractions while driving

Most importantly, let’s all work together to keep our students safe as they head back to school!

August 2026 Blood Drive Overview

A huge thank you to Baldwin Borough Officers, Baldwin Borough Municipal Staff, Baldwin Emergency Medical Service, and all of the community members who came together to make our August blood drive a success!

🩸 16 whole blood donations
🩸 3 Power Red donations
🩸 5 first-time donors
🩸 22 total units of blood collected

Because of your generosity, these donations have the potential to help up to 66 patients in our local community.

For those who may not be aware, fewer than 3% of eligible EMS agencies in the United States carry blood products for prehospital transfusion. Baldwin Emergency Medical Service is one of the few EMS agencies nationwide authorized to provide this lifesaving intervention in the field.

Maintaining access to an adequate blood supply is critical to supporting this capability and ensuring that lifesaving blood products are available when they are needed most.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, supported, and helped spread the word. Your generosity truly makes a difference!

TRAFFIC ALERT: CURRY HOLLOW ROAD is closed between Keeport Drive and Horning Road. The road will be closed for several hours due to a significant vehicle crash. Please find alternate routes.

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to join the Bhutanese Community Association of Pittsburgh’s Summer Camp for their Crime Scene Investigation theme week!

Campers put their detective skills to the test as they worked together to solve the mystery of the missing camp trophy. Working in small groups, they analyzed case files, examined clue cards, investigated the crime scene, and teamed up with Baldwin Borough Police detectives to piece together the evidence. Each group was guided by a lead detective as they reviewed the facts, discussed theories, and ultimately cracked the case!

To celebrate their hard work and outstanding investigative skills, every camper received a Junior Police badge.

A special thank you to Detective Baumgard and Officer Gigliotti for making this interactive experience so much fun and helping inspire the next generation of detectives! 🚔🔍🏆
