The SAFE (Su***de Awareness for Everyone) Task Force of Allegheny County is accepting workshop proposals and vendor applications for its annual conference, "It Takes a Village ... Continuing the Conversation on Su***de," on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the Commonwealth Charter Academy at the Waterfront in Pittsburgh. The conference equips participants with tools, resources, and connections to prevent su***de, support postvention efforts, and promote hope across Allegheny County. 💙 September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. Today, advocates and state agencies came together at the Pennsylvania State Capitol for the 5th Annual Su***de Prevention Day. The event included a news conference and resource tables. Micah Dean, a member of NAMI Keystone PA’s VIBE (Voices Igniting Black Empowerment) Team, spoke about the importance of su***de awareness among young people.

State officials also highlighted the new two-year, multi-agency su***de prevention plan, “A Culture of Support and Action,” which aims to address the mental health needs of all Pennsylvanians and decrease su***de rates in the Commonwealth. The series is designed to promote education, awareness, and compassion regarding schizophrenia. In this personal story, Christine shares her experiences supporting her sister, who is diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder.

It was an honor to once again be a part of the annual Black Men’s Wellness Day at Westinghouse Park in Homewood. This free, family-friendly event focused on health, wellness, and community connection. It included free health screenings, community vendors, and a 5K Walk/Run to raise awareness about the importance of physical health among Black men and boys.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and the Pennsylvania Su***de Prevention Task Force is hosting its 5th Su***de Prevention Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, September 1 from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. The event will take place at the Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg and is open to the public.
