This National Farmers Day, we’re celebrating the more than 370 farms in Allegheny County, including Good Dog Farm, and the farmers who help feed our communities. 🌱

We’re grateful for the farmers who strengthen our local food system, support our economy, and care for the land and water we depend on.

At Good Dog Farm, ACCD worked with partners and landowners to secure funding and provide technical assistance to address erosion, manage water, and reclaim growing space.

Together, we’re flowing forward. 💦 With more than 900 impaired stream miles across Allegheny County, addressing flooding, erosion, stormwater and other water challenges takes regional coordination.

At our first Flowing Forward event, ACCD launched its new Streamlined Watershed Planning Tool, which helps communities identify, prioritize, and invest in water projects with the greatest impact.

Thank you to speakers from Oakmont Borough, Steel Rivers Council of Governments, HDR, The Water Center at Penn, Community Project Hub of SWPA, Allegheny County Parks, Borough of Etna, Allegheny County Government, Pittsburgh Water Collaboratory, and Allegheny County Economic Development, and Ohio River Basin Alliance - ORBA for being part of the conversation.

🌳 Tree Pittsburgh's tree adoption is open! These events are an important part of growing our tree canopy, right in your own yard.

Tree Adoption registrations are open now! Register today at treepittsburgh.org/tree-adoptions

Please remember that these registrations fill up very quickly due to high demand! We also give many selected low-canopy communities early access to registration before we release them to the public. This is part of our work to ensure everyone has equal access to the benefits trees provide.

We always encourage you to come to the end of an event to pick up any trees that remain unclaimed.

Over the past two years, the PGH2050 Comprehensive Plan has been shaped by Pittsburghers, and there’s still time to make your voice heard.

The September workshops will be one of the final opportunities for residents and stakeholders to provide critical feedback on the draft plan before revisions are applied and the plan moves into the approval and adoption process.
