Today, CILE hosted our “Go Global with CILE: Pitt Law Study Abroad” information session at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

It was wonderful to see so many students interested in exploring opportunities to expand their legal education beyond the classroom and across borders.

During the session, students learned more about international moot court competitions, summer and semester study abroad opportunities, exchange programs with the Sorbonne in Paris and the University of Augsburg in Germany, as well as international internship opportunities with law firms, legal aid organizations, and NGOs.

Programs like these give students the opportunity to broaden their perspectives, gain valuable international experience, and prepare for an increasingly global legal profession.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today!

We are delighted to introduce this year’s Global Legal Scholars at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law: Holly Nassif, Ella Phillips, Justin Tuminello, and Danica Raich!

Holly Nassif studied International Relations at Wheaton College and spent a semester in Copenhagen. After interning with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project this past summer, she looks forward to exploring international human rights law and pursuing another study abroad experience.

Ella Phillips graduated from Washington & Jefferson College with degrees in Political Science and History and minors in Russian Studies and Social Justice. Her honors research on the enduring effects of colonialism in the Pacific Islands sparked her interest in international law and global engagement.

Justin Tuminello brings a background in international relations and sustainability, with a particular interest in international environmental law. His recent studies in conflict resolution and human rights at Queen’s University Belfast and University College Dublin also deepened his interest in alternative dispute resolution.

Danica Raich studied International Studies and Political Thought at American University and was recently commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army. Following her summer internship at BNY, where she worked on matters involving cybersecurity, data privacy, and global markets, she looks forward to exploring international arbitration.

We are excited to welcome Holly, Ella, Justin, and Danica to the Global Legal Scholars program and look forward to supporting their academic and professional journeys in international law.

Celebrating our LL.M. and S.J.D. graduates aboard the Gateway Clipper has become one of our favorite traditions.

This evening, we had the pleasure of gathering on Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers to celebrate the accomplishments, hard work, and journeys of our graduating students while enjoying the beautiful skyline views of the city.

We are incredibly proud of our graduates and grateful for the global perspectives, dedication, and friendships they have brought to Pitt Law and CILE. We look forward to seeing all they will accomplish next.

Congratulations again to our LL.M. and S.J.D. Class of 2026!

On Friday, April 24, S.J.D. candidates from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law participated in the National S.J.D. Roundtable hosted at the American University Washington College of Law.

Barli Fadl, Laras Susanti, and Olha Tsyliuryk presented their ongoing doctoral research, engaging in thoughtful discussions with faculty and peers from across institutions. The roundtable provided a valuable platform to exchange ideas, receive feedback, and further refine their scholarship.

We are proud to see our doctoral students contributing to important conversations in international law and representing PittLaw and the Center for International Legal Education (CILE) at Pitt Law in such a meaningful academic setting.
