we see plenty of signs that we're doing our job right: clean water, a well-functioning facility, etc. tomatoes growing out of the parking lot, however, are a little less expected. 🍅

apparently, wastewater tomatoes are a thing.

HISTORICAL THROWBACK: these are the original pumps from ALCOSAN's Main Pump Station, photographed during the early years of the treatment plant. how do you move hundreds of millions of gallons of wastewater through a giant treatment plant every day?

very, very large pumps! the Main Pump Station is where the wastewater treatment process begins -- that part hasn't changed.

today, six massive pumps with a combined 12,000 horsepower move wastewater into the treatment process. currently, ALCOSAN treats up to 295 million gallons of wastewater daily! 🙌
